Business Model

Arelion offers innovative optimization software tools, plug-ins, products and customer specific solutions that solve even very complex quantitative optimization problems. Arelion’s software solutions excel when optimization problems are subject to dynamically changing boundary conditions and when good results need to be available within very short time frames. Due to the special architecture of Arelion’s technology, implementation is quick and integration with customers’ IT infrastructure is straightforward. The core technology has originally been developed in cooperation between the Johannes-Kepler-Universität Linz, Austria, and Siemens CT, Munich.

Arelion will concentrate on selling sector specific standard software as well as offering software tools and plug-ins to integrators and other software product developers that require a high performance optimizer.

The software products for Automatic Speech Recognition and Dialog Management, as well as the majority of the involved employees, were transferred to SVOX. As a result of the acquisition SVOX became an integrated speech technology supplier. In 2011, SVOX was acquired by Nuance Communications.

Curetis has acquired sole commercial rights from STA to the GEAR GEnetic Antibiotic Resistance and Susceptibility platform and database with all its content, numerous GEAR-related patents and patent applications, as well as all corresponding know-how.

GEAR allows users to assemble and annotate bacterial genomes from NGS raw data, identify genetic variations in those genomes and correlate those with the response of the respective bacterial strain to antibiotics. Currently, the GEAR database contains the entire DNA sequences as well as sensitivity data for 21 antibiotics of more than 11,000 bacterial strains isolated from patient samples across the world over the last three decades. It will allow Curetis to rapidly identify potential novel biomarkers, biomarker combinations, and algorithms predicting antibiotic resistance, as well as potential novel targets for antimicrobial drugs.

miRiam – microRNA immunoassay method by BioVendor

BioVendor Research and Diagnostic Products is an internationally active biotechnology company with its own research, development and manufacturing and international sales and marketing network. It has specialized in the development of original immunoassay kits for the detection of novel hormone-like proteins and protein biomarkers as well as related antibodies and recombinant proteins. Recently it is also focusing on novel topics known to be of great interest among the scientific and diagnostic community – microRNA biomarkers, liquid biopsy, exosome isolation, and immunodiagnostic multiplexing and automation.
